Monstrosity Chapter 4

I woke up late, looking around tiredly. I glanced at the time, and gasped. I was late for the test! I grabbed the closest clothes to me and shoved them on. I legged it downstairs, tripping over five steps towards the end. I screamed, sprinting toward the hall.

Luckily, I got there just in time. I walked in and took my seat. The way this worked was we had to wait until we were called one by one into the examination room, where we would be individually assessed.

I looked around to try and see if I could find Archer anywhere. I couldn't find him anywhere, and I gasped inwardly. But I was nearing my testing stage, and I had to put that behind me.

"Peace Eden" The voice called, I realised that I was next. I began preparing myself, stretching, and doing some "brain gym" exercises that my parents taught me. I glimpsed Peace walking out of the room, a smile on her face.

"Hunter Fury"
I rose, smiled, and walked in to see the exam room. It had a track in the middle, weaponry to the left, and targets to the right, this was the first half, and we would move into the next room after we had finished. We were watched by high quality cameras, that would give you your results all by itself, it was very fascinating, how they make all this technology.

All I had to do was show them everything I had. I moved towards the weapons, drawing up a bow and arrow, aiming towards the target, it hit it just above the centre. I then decided to grab a dagger, and deliver a few punches and slits to the robotic combat opponent that was positioned with the weaponry. I smiled, I thought I had done well. I moved over to the second room.

This room was plain, and there was nothing in it except a lone computer. This computer gave you quick fire general knowledge questions, before showing a few combat scenarios, and asked you what the would be the best thing  that you could do in the given situation. I spent ages in this room, thinking long and hard about each question

When I left the room, a machine printed out a summary of my results, and what powers, gifts, and abilities I will be given when I become a monster in my transformation, I took a deep breath, and began to read...

Monstrosity Chapter 3

 I walked to the door, pulling it open with a half-hearted yank. I was shocked to see my friend Archer, standing there with a confused look on his face.
"Come in, what do you want?" I asked
"I'm scared, Hunter," He said
"Why?" I asked
"You know how I'm new to this country, how I immigrated from war in my old country, and I took the test and landed myself in here"
"yes"
"I don't trust this whole monster thing, it's all seems way too evil"
"Welcome to the Dark, we are villains, we learnt this from a very young age" I shrugged
"But I'm not evil, Hunter, I want to be a hero"
"Shut up, you know you'll love it when you get your transformation" I smiled
"I won't, I need to tell you something"
"What?"
"I'm running away,  I really don't want this, so I'm not going to have it, I'm going to the clave"
I gasped, the Clave was a rebel society who rejected there transformations
"But you can't!" I interrupted
"I am, and you cant stop me" He said ass he stormed out of the door.
Like... seriously, WTF?!?!?!?!?!
I lay down, tomorrow was  my test, and I had to have a good sleep.
It was going to decide my powers, my future, but was it really for the best? I couldn't get my head around what Archer was saying, but I couldn't think about that now.

Montrosity Chapter 2

"Hunter Fury, Why were you late?" my stubbon teacher, Mr Jakob snarled at me. He summomed a force field made of shadows around me, one of his favourite punishments, and waited for an answer. "I'm waiting, hunter" He said "And I'm not going to let you go until you do"

"I know the score Jakob, Class kept me behind"

"But your friend, Eden got here on time, why is that?"
"Sir, It was because... uh"
"Our teacher let me go as I already knew about the test, and the ones who were a little bit confused had to stay behind to be reminded"
"And I forgot all about it by accident"

"You, Hunter? You forgot?"
"Yes sir, I had let the thought of my transformation get to my head, I'm just so exited!" I said, and I wasn't lying, I really was that exited, all my dreams were going to come true!

"And you should be, Excuse accepted" Jakob said, withdrawing the shadows away from me, allowing me to walk free again. I took my seat next to Eden, and smiled at her

"I can always count on you, can't I Eden?" I whispered
"I've saved your butt more than enough times, Hunter, you're lucky I'm here" She replied

"No talking in the combat lesson" Jakob reminded us, bringing up the bowl of names, all eight of us smiled, it's time to chose the competitors.

"Today we will learn to fight in pairs, how to work as a team and be able to fight as one, brutal strength"

I turned to Eden and we smiled

"Our first fight is between" Jakob started, picking out two names from the bowl, "Paradox and Jaspar, Verses", he picked up another two, "Hunter and Eden!"

We walked up to the front, shaking our competetors hands, before I strided over to Eden to talk tactics.

"Okay, so I'll take Jaspar and you can take Paradox, when one of them is down, we pile on top of the remaining one" I said

"And if one of us falls?"
"We won't, trust me, we're the best team around, we simply aren't allowed to loose"

Jakobs voice broke our conversation, "Begin!"

I smiled, running towards Jaspar, I deliesved a swift punch around the face, knocking him over. I smirked at him as he clambered his way up, kicking his leg  up to my face, it was a good move, but I had mastered a technique of reversing it. I grabbed his foot, and twisted it round, sending him crashing too the floor, as his eyes fluttered shut. "One down!" Jackob said.

Eden wasn't having as good luck, she was getting hit by Paradox  way more, and Paradox had the advantage. I snuck behind him, and pushed him over, I called it toying with him, so he is weaker, ready for our final blow. We repeated this a number of times, before Eden finished it of with a clean kick to the head.

"The winner is, Eden and Hunter!" Jackob announced, "You may go back to your Dorms, you two"

I rushed out and raced up the stairs to my room, and lay on my bed, pulling out Temple Run on my Iphone, when I heard a knock at the door...

A/N- Hey Guys! Enjoy and happy Advent!

Monstrosity Chapter 1

I trudged slowly down the coridoors of my academy. It was cold,  and winter was approaching fast. My transformation was coming soon, and I was undergoing intense training until it comes. I had seven days left, and this week would be the hardest yet. My name is Hunter, and I am approaching my transformation day. In my world all humans get evil powers on their 12th birthday, and become "Monsters" as they call them. When we are 7, we get submitted into one of the 5 monstrosity academies, for the smart, they go to Paradox, for the ruthless, Flame, for the kind,  Dreamslayer, the Agile go to Clash and finally, the normal people with nothing special about them go to Spirit. I take my training at Clash, but I begun at Spirit.

 

This is because of one of the ancients rules when the Dark took over our world, and built the 5 academies. When we are 11, we get a choice of where to have our final year of training, but they only give you if you pass the test, it was hard, and it tested all the elements of monstrosity, your brain, your body, your darkness, and your personality. If you pass, you get a choice of where to go, but if you don't, you stay, no choices about it.

 

Back to the story, I was going to have one of my favourite lessons, combat. I get to fight with another student, hopefully my friend Eden. She has been my friend since forever, and we both decieded to take the risk and join Clash together, and for that I was greatful.

 

In two days, we would have the final test, that would tell us what our powers would be, what monster we would become and what our role would be to play in this dark future. I had dreamed of working for the Dark since forever, and I hoped that this would be my chance...

2 important changes

Hey guys! Today was a lazy kinda day, went church and stuff. It gave me time to think and I decided to make 2 big decisions that will change the image of OliverTheWriter online.

1- Cook with Ollie... this will be a monthly feature, as once SUMMER is over I will blogging weekly, I thought that once a month I will cook something and tell you guys about it, and show pictures and the recipe, hopefully this will attract more viewers!

2- Character Collab- this is a second blog that will be going up soon where I will post in the style of lots of my characters, like Terrence, IQ, Felix and GhostPaw, also there will be exclusive stories, characters and other stuff too!!


Cool Ollie! Finally, I'll wrap this up with the recipe/ song I'll be making in September for the first edition of "cook with Ollie!"

Trentham gardens

Anyway today we went to trentham gardens, it had a lovely maze, park and barefoot walk! Also there was a trail where you could find all the "fairies"

After we went on a relaxing boat trip to the monkey forest which was full of cool monkeys!

CSI- day 3

Today at CSI, a man with a TASER and a Shotgun came and I got to hold the gun!  Also, we made disguises, decorated cakes and took our hamstrings, the CSI way with Plaster of Paris (SO annoying, why doe  it dry so quickly??)

Also... news time!  Mine and Owens mum have agreed that Owen can come on holiday with us!! How cool is that??!????!! OMG!!

Today at CSI, I learnt how to juggle, I met a police officer, and I rode in his car, in the afternoon, we went to park hall and we did a GIAnT scavenger hunt!!!! I got to take the pics! Snap Snap Snap!!

CSI and Rare!

Hey guys, today we went to City Kids ! SO, which is a crutch organised week of fun, puzzle solving, craft and sport! Today, we made spy gadgets, did code breaking and fitness training, we also got a cost from some police dogs! You can find out more about what we do on @BCCCityKids on Twitter

Smurfs 2 (and Owen LOL)

Animal Jam Code!

Today I went to the Wacky Warehouse for some lunch, whilst we were there we met up with my cousins, who are from Spain! I also have a French cousin but but THAT DOESN'T MATTER!!

National Space Centre!

Hello, today I went to the Lego summer event at the National Space Centre!

One of the good things.that you could do at the event was make a stop animation Lego movie- watch mine by searching Nspacecentre and watching number 17 of the 30/7/2013 ones.

I also did a.weather forcast- here it is!

Sorry 'bout the blurriness!

Also we saw a fantastic show in the planetarium!! It was called we are aliens! I do believe in aliens, not little green men in flying saucers, but life on other planets is nightly likely, especially on Europa, since as where there's water there's life, and there is an ocean underneath the planet's crust it's bound to have something lurking there. And maybe it will have evolved in to a intelligent civilization like we have! Who knows?

ELDERFL0WER CUPCAKES!

Hello, before we start, here are a few pics from yesterday

 

Today my wonderful granny and I baked some really tasty elderflower cupcakes. They are like butterfly cakes but with elderflower flavoured icing!

I thought since I am so nice that I would share with you the recipe

 

Elderflower cupcakes

 

Cream together 100g Softened Butter and 100 grams Golden Caster Sugar until pale.

Gradually whisk in 100 grams of Self Raising Flour.

Place 12 (We maneged to make 16) cupcake cases in a patty tin and spoon the mixure into each (BE CAREFUL!)

Bake at 190 'C for15-20 minutes until golden.

Cool on a wire rack before cuttingn out the center of each cake.

Halve each circle of sponge and set to one side.

Beat 100 grams sifted icing sugar, 50 grams softened butter and two teaspoons of elderflower cordial.

Spoon into the cakes and top with two semi circles of sponge,.

Dust with icing sugar and serve.

YUM!

 

There you have it! Now you can be a great cook like me (and Gran)

Bike Special!

Hello! :-)

I am absolutly shattered! :-) YAY! It was the most tiring day of the summer! I woke up and had some porridge and then went up to my room to do some scrapbooking and reading. Fun Fun Fun! :-) So then we got in the car and set off to Parsley Hay to start the Tissington Trail! We had a picnic before we set off. The trail was consisted of 6 towns to ride through and some had shops and benches for you to rest at. We went thourgh- Hartington, Alsop and finally to Tissington, and then back! A grand total of 22 Miles! Did you read that right? 22 MILES! OMG ASDFGHJKL;!!!

Yeah. I was happy!

Then we went home to have some of  Grans lovly Chessy Pasta with bits of bancon and coliflower in! DELISH!

After that we went to the DECCA BIKE FESTIVAL! Where I...

Made an Oliver The Writer badge!
Pedaled a smoothie!
Made a wristband out of a tyre!
Tried a unicyle, penny farthing, bikes where you pedal with your hands, go karts, bouncy bikes, big bikes, tandems and more!
All the music was made via pedal power!
Tried a new kind of exercise bike!
Got 2 bike badges and a scooter sticker!
And watched an amazing BMX-er who did EPIC tricks
And more!!

City Of Caves :-O

Hello and welcome to my blogpost. We are going to be talking about the nottinghamshire City of Caves - www.cityofcaves.com

So, this morning we went on the tram into Nottingham and then into the Broadmarsh Shopping Center  which holds the entrance to the caves. We took a tour which showed us old air raid shelts, sandstone mines and cellars all underneath the center.



I found it a very enjoyable experience! Mainly because I LOOVVVEEEE caving and caves and also because it was very interesting!

We had a barbecue tonight but then it rained on us so we had to take everything inside and finish our food inside :-(

Nottingham By The Sea!

Today I went over to my grandparents house for a visit and i'll be here for a while but ANIMAL JAM DOESN'T WORK ON THERE COMPUTER! OMZ! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

It's a shame, but in other news I finished holiday heartbreak. And there is a character called Oliver. Uh huh... IT IS SO EMBARRISING!

Today we went via a summer festival in Nottingham called "NOTTINGHAM BY THE SEA!"  In which they put sand and water all arounf to make it look like the beach and there are rides and there was a high ropes course that i went up on and it was SO FUN and scary...

Also, we joined a charity called " The canal and river trust" which they save wildlife and polluting the canals and stuff like that, check them out at- www.coolcanals.com

Finally, the last bit of news is that the den party will be in august and that I'm becoming a member soon! :-)

Hiya, I've got a sleepover tomorrow! We're watching Star Trek and having a McDonalds! I also got me and my book mentioned by Callum Jones in First News! I am also so neverous For my SATS!

 

I also want to review a new show on CBBC- Stange Hill High, as my friends dads friend designs the characters. You can check it out on Iplayer, it's amazing, give it a try!

 

On saturday I'm getting the sequel for Zom-B, the first in Demontia, the first in Cirqe Du Freak, Dear Scarlet, Sorrowline and Queenie!!! (From the libary, I couldn't afford it all!)

 

On Sunday I'm getting a new copy Battlefield of The Mind For Kids!!

 

I've started to write a musical that I will publish for children to use in clubs at school, I will put the songs online and it's called "Imagon"!

ZOM-B and Writing

To start things off, lets do a book review. It's on ZOM-B by Darren Shan. Woah, just Woah. 5 stars.

Now onto the writing part. I have had one of my poems published in not one, but TWO anthologys!! I also tryed peanut butter for the first time. It was DELISH!!

Today we had to paint a park. Simple right...wrong! I have a lot of photos at the twitter @BCCLoveStoke Check them out. But here's one, I acidently painted my hair red when i bumped.my head on the climbing frame.

We did some photos and the swings were amazing Bit of football and stuff. It was great!!!!!

A/N- Greetings! Now what has happened since “Believe”? Well… I got into the Brook Hill School in Texas! So I’m boarding there! I won some poetry competitions and signed up for camp Nanowrimo! So the following is the novel that I wrote then. I’d like to thank everyone involved in “City Youth” a program from Breathe City Church. Iona, Alex, Rob and all the City Youth boys and girls. I would like to say thanks to Mum as well for helping me and supporting me. I also got a new notebook and trying to publish “Gifted” A Christian novel. A/N This is before marked , a normal day in Idris

I casually went outside with cardboard and bin bags, as others had plastic sledges! Noah slinked out of his house, with a state of the art sleigh, giving me a dirty look. I laughed, sledging in Idris almost never happens, so I made the most of it. I hastily climbed in to my bin bag, and skidded and twisted around the hill, laughing having fun. Then I heard a different laugh, one of a rich boy. “Noah”  I whispered “Ugh.”

He spun and flew down the hill like a bird. I watched, mesmerised, watching him move gracefully down the hill. Bin bag boy. That’s me…                     Noah’s marked body moving made me feel intimidated by my two measly marks…

“I know what you’re thinking”

“What?”

“You want marks… And a sled”

“Watch it!”

“Bin Bag Boy!”

“Nerd”

“You can get some”

“Some what?”

“Some marks, with a stele, I’ve done it loads of times!”

“And I don’t know how!”

“Let me do it then!”

“I wish I could”

“You can have speed, strength, magic, anything!”

“Wait…”

“If I must…” Noah said.

Suddenly, Jason walked out.

“DO THE HARLEM SHAKE!!” He screamed, sending me laughing in the snow.

I stood up, wet, soaking and still laughing. “What was that for?”

“SLENDERMAN IS BEHIND YOU!”

“Are you mental Jason? There is nothing there but a snow angel!” I said, demonstrating by turning around.

“Sorry, I like being random” Jason muttered

“We’ve noticed” Noah said. Jason rolled a snowball, and chucked at me, I caught it and threw it at Noah, right in the nose. I gave a slight chuckle. Noah threw another, and another until a massive snowball war broke out. I laughed. I felt happy. When suddenly my bin bag flew away. We chased after it, laughing and screaming until Jason grabbed it. I felt happy, even eco sleds matter.

“You should get one”

“Not the mark thing again…” I muttered

“No, a sled, I’ll get you one”

“Thanks”

Then I realised that I couldn’t feel my feet. I ran inside the institute, and put my feet up by the fire with my mug of hot cocoa. Tired I took a doze, sleeping and dreaming.

 

I’m having shortcake with Jason and Noah, but suddenly he gets his knife out and marks me again. I scream at the pain but it’s already done. I fainted and…

 

My eyes opened, a new day again. Noah’s there with 2 sledges, one for...me? I took it… and another day off laughing began. Snowballs, falling and sledging…and hot cocoa by the fire.

But there was a stele in his pocket…

Carrot Cake

I love to write, like write write. You know, the one with a pencil and paper. The one you do whist watching manga. The one you illustrate using online tutorials. The one that starts with carrot cake. A nice, cinnamon carrot cake with a cup of tea. One sugar. And a ginger biscuit.

          I write anything. Novels, Books, Poems, Screenplays. Anything. Utopia and Dystopia.  Magic and Romance. Short and long. And a little bit of graphic novel.

My notepad has a thin black swirly cover and a rainbow coloured spin, looping the pages together. I draw, write and doodle in there. I guess it’s fun. I guess it’s cool. Maybe a bit like therapy sometimes.

I’m George, though everyone calls me IQ. Cause I’m braining, smart, nerdy. Crazy (A bit).

I love to watch a film or read a book every night, I barley sleep, just enjoy carrot cake and read. When people ask me what I like, I say carrot cake, because I know in my head, I mean writing. The one thing I truly adore. Then Totoro, but this isn’t about that.

I went to see a fellow writer today. The lent my another film by the people who made  totoro, and two classic dystopians.1984 and cosmopolis! I snuggled up with them before bed…not  in that way. Did you think of it like that?

Well, this writer was studying at an university, and I was so happy to meet him. I got some scrambled eggs, a cereal bar and… of course…Carrot Cake. It was delicious. I wondered why they called it “Good” Friday. But still, he was amazing, he taught me a lot today.

We then watched spirited away together, and I loved it, I love anything magical. I would love to live in a new world, a new place and time.

Magic and Carrot Cake. That’s what makes happiness.

I think so, at least. I then went home to write. It was Friday night writes after all, and I want to write, my twitter dashboard quiet until the ten minute breaks, and the write club hashtag trending. It happens every morning when I wake up on Saturday, It feels like I accomplished something, I don’t know what. It still feels good.

Writing is fun, and good for the tired, restless brain. I feel like I’m writing another person’s life, sometimes like I am that person. Sometimes I learn from my other characters and at other times I become them. I write in bed. Not like that. I write with my teddy bears and with my books by my side, books under my pillow case and the thought of carrot cake.

Prologue

“Will it hurt?” I asked, exposing my arm to the knife about to mark my skin.

“All runes hurt Felix, but I promise they’re worth it” Noah explained, the knife touching my skin. I  flinched, I’ve been marked with shadowhunter runes before, but then I was young, now I‘m 11 and I’m open to the pain.

Pain. The first word and feeling in my mind. Searing pain as the knife drew the rune. Slowly, Up. Down. Across and flick. It looked Japanese, I sniggered. I don’t know why. How’s Japanese funny?

Anyway, It hurt…A lot. But I’m fine now. Thanks for asking. Noah wasn’t fine. He was being bombarded with my questions.

“What was that knife thing?”

“A STELE, Felix, how many times?”

“What will it do?”

“Help you fight!”

“Against?”

“DEMONS!”

“I know, I’m still new to this business”

“Nerd”

“Freak”

We laughed.

Part 1

Marks

Chapter 1

Hello… How do you do? I’m Felix, Felix Harper Host. I’m one of the Shadowhunters. Some group of people who kick the asses of demons. Yup, we’re a big bunch of bad asses. Anyway, I’m trained by Noah, a cool 15 year old who treats me like a baby, even though I’m 11. He’s killed lots of demons. I’ve killed none…yet, just you wait, I’m so going to kill some.

 I guess I’m sort of a nerd. I own a Da Vinci journal and a fountain pen. I am SO a nerd. Books are my life. My journal is where my life is written. I might stick some extracts in here. Who knows? This is my book. My words, my page. I go to boarding school in Idris, the Nephlim country, yet it’s not on the map. We are a secret organization. So this is a secret book on sale. Kind of.

I have a lot of paintings, drafts and posters plastered around my room. I have a Japanese rug and a matching duvet. Moving round you will see my desk, my netbook, tablet and smartphone it here, as well as my journal and notepad. I have a pen pot where I keep my pens, obviously. I write to my pen pal here. I have a sleeping bag and a wardrobe full of clothes. That’s my room in my school. That’s where I live. I have brown hair with a green streak through it, pale skin and deep brown eyes.

I Love to smile. Boy that’s a gay line. Never mind, I do, fun fact- Laughing a minute adds a day too your life, I’m probably going to live for ever! I love jokes, I tell them all the time. This morning, Noah came to my room today and we talked, he wants me to get as many marks as him. His entire body is covered with them. I have 3. I got 1 the other day. It feels weird, itchy and annoying.

  But Noah said it was worth it, so I’m going to keep going with it. I want to be a proper shadowhunter like Jace and Clary, they are like the most famous Shadowhunters in Idris. I look up to them so much. That’s what I live for. To be like them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 2

I don’t know what I’m doing writing this book. I have no idea. I suppose I can use it to get my feelings out. Like...you know, share them. With you. Tell my story, how things were, are, and will be. I popped a skittle in my mouth as I walked down to the library. It’s so a place I can be quiet and enjoy being me.  It makes me feel glad that I’m me. I have a pen pal that I write to in there.

I do all my writing in there. I read and write and sometimes eat. Skittles, I love to taste the rainbow. The Library is a castle of reading, full of word windows witch are full of adventure, fantasy and different worlds in the future.  

The library also has computers. I print out my work and store it in a giant tattered folder. I popped another watermelon skittle in my mouth. IQ, the library assistant gave me a nod. “Hi”

I stopped, and nodded back to him. IQ is my best friend in school. He’s cool and loves writing as much as me. I moving round and turned round the teenage section. Round and Round and browsed the spines and took in every title. Stopping to look at some of the ones I was interested in. Reading the blurbs with interest and taking out the ones I needed to read, like book club books and assignments. I ended up with three books. But I will read them quickly like I always do.

I slinked over to the computers and logged onto twitter. I feel normal at this school. Because we’re all Nephlim. I guess some of us are Quartrants”( Quarter Angel), Deliriums (Half Angels) and Angels. We do have a couple of werewolves and vampires who got bitten. But they all have marks. We call ourselves “Children of the mark” After all, we are. We all have marks. That’s what makes up who we are. Nephlim.

I went back to my room and turned on my tablet. I pulled up my information app. Mark information app. I took a picture of my mark. To decipher it.

The Magic Rune and its Legend

This mark can give you the ability to curse others. The legend is it can lead you into downworlders. Legend is it has led many Nephlim into bites.

Whoa. Didn’t expect that. Not at all.

 

 

Chapter 3

I set up a Google hangout today.  I invited everyone to join in on twitter and my blog.  I only got a small turn out.  Leo, David, Lindsey, IQ and Noah. David and Leo were mundanes. They just follow me on twitter and decided to join in.  Cool huh? Yup. I know right! David’s from America. I wish I could go. The land of pop tarts, malls and bright lights. The dream world. Leo makes YouTube videos, his videos are so cool. He does a wreck this journal series. I’ve done one. Lindsey is in the girls dormitory, and she’s going out with Noah. It makes me sick!

So the conversation was pretty awkward. So we did a Harlem Shake to break the ice. I clicked of. Re-read the letter from my pen pal. I picked up my book and turned the pages one by one. I skimmed the words and took it in. I couldn’t, I threw the book on the floor. So I wrote a long weary blog to take my mind of things. Three chapters for one day. This writing thing is doing well.
